About DiverCity

Out network intends to promote a shared understanding of the multiple challenges international migration poses in terms of increasingly heterogeneous needs and uses of collective space in our cities. It will produce new knowledge on the social processes of appropriation, sharing, construction and re-construction of public space.

Key factors underpinning positive and negative social interactions taking place in these places will be identified with the ultimate goal of contributing to the promotion of mutual understanding, conflict solving, peaceful cohabitation and the ‘right to the city’ for all. The innovative elements and originality of the proposal lie on the extensive use of unconventional and top-notch means of research and communication, such as visual ethnography (videos complemented by comics) and Web 2.0 elements (Wiki). The skills of the participating researchers, mostly early-stage, and their familiarity with the new technologies will facilitate the application of these means
